URBNSURF: Perfect waves have arrived in Melbourne

Melbourne is synonymous with good coffee, smashed avo and laneways covered in some of the world's best street art...not perfect barrel waves.

While it's been one of the world's most liveable cities for some time now, where Melbourne falls short is its lack of surf beaches.

That's where URBNSURF comes in. Located 20 minutes from Melbourne's CBD and just five minutes from the airport - the surf park is offering perfect waves for all levels.

Andrew Ross, a former lawyer and investment banker, was inspired to build the surf park in 2012 after meeting the founders of Wavegarden; an artificial wave park company in Spain.

He wanted to create a facility where professional and beginner surfers alike could come to experience surfing at its best. It's not every day you get one hour straight of perfect barrel waves after all!

URBNSURF is just over five hectares big and offers sessions for beginner all the way to expert level surfers. There's lessons that will teach you everything from how to fall safely and surfing etiquette, to more advanced skills like perfecting turns and the basics of performance surfing.

Once you've been in the water you can sit back and relax poolside with a coffee and delicious food from the guys at Three Blue Ducks.

The goal of URBNSURF is to get Melburnians to #surfmore and give more people a chance to experience the joy of catching the "perfect" wave...literally.
